Dr. Helaman P. Erickson
Dr. Helaman Erickson is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who specializes in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, with a particular interest in dentoalveolar surgery, dental implant surgery, full arch replacement surgery (Proarch, All on 4, teeth in a day), corrective jaw (orthognathic) procedures, and maxillofacial trauma. He is also in a distinguished class of maxillofacial surgeons that is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons and currently serves on the Committee on Applicants of the American College of Surgeons. He has a special interest in dental implant technologies and is a speaker for Strauman, a well-recognized implant company.
Dr. Erickson is dually trained in both dentistry and medicine. Originally from Arizona, he received his Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University graduating cum laude. Dr. Erickson then received his dental degree from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. His medical degree was obtained from the prestigious UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas.
Following medical school, he completed an internship in General Surgery. Dr. Erickson also received extensive training in anesthesiology through the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern and Children’s Medical Center at Dallas. Dr. Erickson completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery training at UT Southwestern/Parkland Memorial Hospital — internationally known as one of the premier training programs in the specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Dr. Erickson has hospital appointments at Midland Memorial Hospital, Odessa Regional Medical Center, and Medical Center Hospital. He serves in the Midland Medical Society as well as the Permian Basin Dental Society. He also has numerous publications on various topics in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
With extensive training in dentistry, medicine, anesthesiology, and surgery, Dr. Erickson is uniquely qualified to treat a broad spectrum of oral and maxillofacial surgical issues for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and senior patients alike.
Dr. Erickson and his wife Christina have four children (Charlotte, Olivia, Elliott, and Graham) and enjoy being part of the West Texas community.
